Curriculum

This program provides the trainee with in-depth experience in all disciplines of internal medicine including exposure to inpatients and outpatients. This experience is built on the principle of graded responsibility.

The goals and objectives of the program are consistent with the Royal College training objectives for internal medicine. Each trainee must undertake a minimum of 48 weeks (12 four week blocks) experience in general internal medicine during the core three year training. The general internal medicine experience will be undertaken on the pyramidally structured Medicine Teaching Units (MTU's), General Medicine Consults, General Medicine Ambulatory Care Clinics and Community Experience in GIM. The level of responsibility on the MTU will increase each year.
